Witam

Udostępniłem kernel v28.0 bazujące na Linux-3.13.0. Podobnie jak to już uczyniłem w wersji v27.5 zmodyfikowałem konfiguracje kerneli, tu dodatkowo włączyłem szereg nowych sterowników i funkcjonalności. Proszę zatem testować ;).

Co do zmian to podobnie, jak w przypadku kerneli v27.5:

- Związane z bezpieczeństwem - moduły kerneli dotyczące firewalla oraz szyfrowania - najczęściej stosowane zostały na sztywno "wbite" w kernel. Ponadto wyłączyłem sekcje SELinux - cóż na tę chwile "nie do końca" ufam NSA. Zatem myślę, ze na teraz bezpieczniej wyłączyć te elementy.

- Aktywowałem moduł AMD IOMMU v2 [dodatkowe rozszerzone sprzętowe wsparcie m.in. dla PCI PRI i PCI PASID]... myślę, że już jest "dojrzały" na tyle, że ładnie współpracuje z Catalystami [nie działa z otwartymi sterownikami].

- Aktywowałem szereg dodatkowych sterowników zarządzających: podświetlaniem, zarządzanie zasilaniem, czujniki, etc.

Przypominam w przypadku używania zamkniętych sterowników proszę zainstalować wersje udostępniane przez NeteXt'73:

- dla Nvidii: wersja 331.38 [na ten moment - być może zbuduje także wersje 304.xxx].

- dla AMD/Radeon: Catalysty 13.12 - najlepiej build v3.

Jak będę w domu (za +/- 2h) to przetestuję co nasz forumowy kucharz dla nas przygotował i czy w końcu twoje kernele zobaczą moją baterię :)

No niestety moje nadzieje względem 3.13 właśnie się rozwiały...
/sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts/gpe03: 454 disabled
kworker 100% użycia procesora przy zmianie zasilania lub jasności ekranu.
Po jakichś 10 minutach uspokaja się dopiero.
Testowałem steamos. Tam jest kernel z lini 3.10 i problem nie występuje.

W końcu bateria jest rozpoznawana +1 :)
Ciesze się, m.in. dlatego dość mocno zmodyfikowałem sekcje odpowiedzialne za wszelkiego rodzaju czujniki ;)

Nie. Pierwszy raz o tym słyszę ;) To na pewno błąd kernela? Na otwartych sterownikach i radeon.dpm wszystko jest w porządku.

Z otwartymi wszystko działa bez problemu. W moim laptopie wszystko łącznie z chipsetem jest od amd więc chyba zgłoszenie tego błędu tam będzie dobrym pomysłem :)

Własnie miałem Ci napisać o linkowaniu ;) ... tak jest błąd - X`y w ramach działającego sterownika fglrx odwołują się w pewnych aspektach [AIGLX] do nieistniejącego już w nowych wydaniach katalogu: /usr/X11R6/lib64/modules/dri/. Ok muszę pozgłaszać chyba hurtem błędy do AMD - te które naprawiłem moim buildzie v3 i m.in ten ;). A Ty waść opisz błąd z kworkerem. Chyba przy instalacji spod NeteXt'73 będzie trzeba na teraz zrobić taki symlink.

Potestowalem sobie Kubuntu generic 14.04 i chcialem zainstalowac sobie nowy kernel, ale poleglem juz na poczatku.
Pierwsza proba pobrania microcode i firmware znowu konczy sie komunikatem o blednej sumie, szkoda mi transferu na proby pobierania i jestem zmuszony sobie odpuscic testowanie.

Generic dziala OK, zwiech nie zaliczam.
Chromium dostalo Ad-blocka i temperatury mam 48*C-51*C, na kernelu v28.0 prawdopodobnie byly by jeszcze nizsze po optymalizacjach tam wprowadzonych :(

Kernel 28.0 jak i sterowniki Nvidia 331.38 zainstalowane. Jak na razie działa bez problemów, chociaż zauważyłem, że został usunięty pakiet nvidia-settings :( Jaką wersję mam zainstalować by nie padły sterowniki?

Witam,
Kilka dni temu pojawiła się nowa wersja kernela v28.0 (i7 i k8), które przetestowałem na swoim komputerze i dodatkowo wykonałem jeszcze test 3.12.7-i7 i 3.13.0-generic. Podczas testowania kernela 3.12.7 (v27.4-i7) zaskoczyła mnie wydajność i responsywność systemu. Postanowiłem sprawdzić jak zachowuje się system pod dużym obciążeniem. Wykorzystałem do tego program "SimpleScreenRecorder" oraz grę "Metro: Last Light". Nagrywałem wszystko w 1080p przy 60FPS-ach i mogę powiedzieć że nie zauważyłem żadnych przycięć podczas grania, a obraz był płynny. Wyniki testu są dostępne tutaj.

Wyniki testu pokazują, że nowa wersja jądra v28.0 jest wydajniejsza i to nie tylko podczas grania, ale nawet podczas wykonywania zadań, które wymagają dużej responsywności systemu.

Test sterowników NVIDIA 331.38 i 331.20 który zrobiłem w celu sprawdzenia ich wydajności znajduje się tutaj.

Jeśli ktoś z Was stawia na dużą wydajność to polecam kernel i7 ;)

Ja pragnę Koledze Miras1990 podziękować za testy i jeszcze małe wyjaśnienie odnośnie wykresów. Tam gdzie kernel ma maksymalne i bezpośrednie przełożenie widać największy zysk - tu szybkość pracy I/O z napędami. Natomiast tam gdzie większość operacji realizowana jest przez układ graficzny zarządzany sterownikami zamkniętymi - widać teoretycznie najmniejszy zysk ... w praktyce ten zysk to właśnie "brak haczenia" i spowolnienia np. podczas gry = kernel staje się "transparenty", poprzez wykorzystywanie wszelkich dostępnych instrukcji dla procesora - tu w szczególności tyczy się to wersji i7 oraz Brazos ... a niedługo dołączą do nich i7-pro [dla Haswella] oraz Brazos-pro [Piledriver i Steamroller/Kaveri/Kabini/Jaguar]. Oczywiście wszystkie te wersje dostępne będą w ramach jednego "abonamentu" - zatem osoby które już mają dostęp do kerneli Premium, automatycznie dostaną dostęp do dwóch w/w nowych linii ;).

Tak działa ... pod moimi kernelami dla: AMD i starszych Inteli [c2d] sterownie następuje przez ACPI/cpufreq, a dla Inteli icore [i3, i5, i7] przez Intel p-states.

Przy czym na AMD/Starsze intele powinien być profil performance-ondemand, a dla Intela icore intel-performance.

Co się 'nie podoba' turbostatowi ?
