Racja polecam L4D2 ... świetna gra a dla mnie dodatkowy Benchmark [korzystam już od ok 2/3 miesięcy] ;) ... polecam też Metro Last Light. Jeśli dysponujecie wystarczając mocną maszyną gra jest genialna ;).

Właśnie testuje kolejne buildy kerneli. Podniosłem wydajność i być może tak zbudowane wersje udostępnię ;).

wystarczy mi config AMD e1 1200, radeon 7310, 8 gb ddr3 do "przyjemnej" pracy z kubuntu 13.10 ? bo nie wiem czy warto się pchać w kde...jednak procek słaby

Zatem z kernelem Brazos spokojnie da radę. Jak zapewne już czytałeś sam ma E-350 = niewiele mocniejszy od w/w i po odpowiedniej konfiguracji + kernel Brazos + APM + Linux-firmware/microcode, wpisy w grub + Catalysty etc. działa naprawdę znakomicie.

Udostępniłem Catalysty 13.12 - dodałem patche osuwające regresje [w tym mój build działa do kerneli opartych o Linux-3.13.x włącznie], jakie znajdują się w oryginalnej wersji + patche poprawiające ich wydajność - w tym na procesorach Intela [włączyłem sprzętowe mmu].

Musze przyznać, iż eksperymentuje z catalystami i mam już build sterownika, który jest znacznie bardziej zoptymalizowany ... a w zasadzie pozwala na większą optymalizację w trakcie budowy modułu. Jeśli uznam, że to rozwiązanie nie rodzi problemów, już niedługo build v2 sterownika v13.12. Tak bowiem skonstruowany pakiet pozwala na zbudowanie modułu idealnie dostosowanego do architektury na której jest instalowany, a zatem pomimo faktu, iż większość sterownika to "binarny blob", na który nie ma wpływu, to jednak elementy "styku" tej binarki - w postaci części kodu łączącego się z kernelem będą znacznie bardziej zoptymalizowane "pod maszynę" na której są instalowane, a zatem zapewnią dodatkową wydajność i lepszą responsywność ogólną systemu. Jeśli uznam, że pod catalystami się to sprawdza jak zakładam, to pomyśle o takiej optymalizacji również dla sterowników Nvidii ;).

Testuje sobie kubuntu 14.04 daily na maszynce wirtualnej (virtualbox) i powiem szczerze, że bez żadnej ingerencji responsywność systemu jest o wiele lepsza niż ubuntu.

Chciałem sobie do tego wgrać NeteXta, ale ni stąd ni z owąd zepsuł mi się root i nie bardzo wiem jak temu zaradzić:

A próbował kolega samemu poszukać, zamiast od razu Mistrza wypytywać? Wydaje mi się, że forum widziało już podobny problem. Sznurki:

Taka drobna uwaga. Tego typu błędy (o ile samemu coś się nie popsuło) na wersjach testowych (i nie ważne, że testowane w VBoxie) powinny być zgłaszane gdzie trzeba, czyli na launchpadzie.
O pomoc pytaj a forum, a nie przez PW.

Naprawiłem uprawienia sudo (niby) z tego linku co dałeś, spod konsolki odzyskiwania, lecz teraz mam jeszcze inny problem - dodam, że nie znalazłem nic podobnego na forum.

Widzę,z e pod moja nieobecność już Kolega bear7 złożył odpowiednie "wyjaśnienia" ;). Co do sterowników - już jestem pewien i mam odpowiedni build sterownika Catalyst 13.12 - zapewne 1 stycznia wypuszczę ;). Na razie dotyczy to Catalystów - powinniście wraz z buildem v2 odczuć popraw w wydajności, a przede wszystkim w responsywności i płynności środowiska i gier. Teraz kolej na testy z Nvidią.

Melduję że na najnowszych catalystach vsync częściowo działa na dualach. Rwie tylko w pasie 3,4 cm na górze ekranu.
W poprzednich wersjach jakie testowałem vsync nie działał wcale więc jest postęp.
Z tego co znalazłem wynika że identycznie było na catalystach 13.1:

Prawie rok minął a błąd nie naprawiony....

Edit:
Powyższe objawy występują tylko na karcie dedykowanej. Apu po raz pierwszy wreszcie działa normalnie :)

U mnie po zainstalowaniu 27.3 jest nie zbyt ciekawie z temteratura o jakie 10*C wiecej jak na genericu bez APM/microcode i wpisow lub z wpisami/APM/microcode przy przegladaniu stron i w tle muzyka.
Polozylem sie zostawiajac dzisiaj z rana wlaczony laptop i obudzil mnie szum wentylatorow, prawie 80*C, otwarta Opera z polowa co zwykle stron i Chromium z jedna, Akregator - inaczej mowiac to co zwykle.

Przy okazji ostatnio "męczę" Ubuntu 14.04 ... tak Ubuntu nie Kubuntu ... i powiem sczesze da się nawet dograć ustawienia Ubuntu, ale Unity to wręcz mordęga w porównaniu do KDE 4.12.0 ... jak z powrotem wracam do KDE to wręcz ulga hehe ;) Konfiguracja Unity i Gnome w porównaniu do KDE to "sadomasochizm" - w szczególności kwestia sterownia podświetlaniem matrycy w różny trybach sterowaniem zamykania pokrywy etc. - na szczęście są "tweak`i" i dodatkowo obecnie Compiz jest wolniejszy niż "stare" wersje 0.8.x ;). Płynność środowiska choć da się w miarę dograć nie ma szans do dobrze skonfigurowanego KDE. Choć muszę przyznać, że w Ubuntu jeszcze bardziej widać różnice na "plus" dla moich kerneli - w poszczególności Brazos i i7 - wręcz gigantyczna różnica w płynności ;).

Testuje już kernel v28.0 operty na teraz na Linux-3.13-rc7 ... na teraz tylko wersje Brazos pod X370. Tu jak pisałem mój build Catalystów działa genialnie pod kernelami Linux-3.13.x ... niestety na razie nie udało mi się uruchomić sterowników Nvidii [331.20 - z pełną funkcjonalnością] ... choć już testowałem kilka patchy, non stop coś wywala - nawet jak moduł buduje i potrafi wystartować, ale ... patche polegają m.in. na wyłączeniu ACPI i IOMMU :P ! Nvidia potrafi podnieść ciśnienie ;), ale pod catalystami kernel działa genialnie. Co ciekawe kernel ma automatycznie aktywowany DPM i na otwartych sterownikach już nie trzeba DPM wywoływać w grubie dla Radeonów, a wydajność sterownika otwartego już ma niedaleko do catalystów ;).

Ps. i muszę coś wyznać ... w szoku jestem, że w Ubuntu [unity] nie ma ... schowka :P aż uwierzyć nie mogłem - znaczy się raz działa, raz nie :P - dla mnie w KDE [Kubuntu] podstawowa funkcjonalność ;)

Fakt są błędy ACPI i dotyczą w zasadzie tylko Samsunga > przykładowo to zgłoszenie [autor zgłoszenie wskazuje na pojawienie się błędu już w kenrbelu 3.8.x - zgłoszenie dotyczy generica 3.11.x z Ubuntu 13.10].

W takim razie jestem skazany na otwarte sterowniki ;) Na szczęście moje radeony 7000 nie są SI więc otwarte sterowniki działają pięknie. Z niecierpliwością czekam na nowy kernel. Może na 3.13 będzie dobrze z zamkniętymi. Kilka razy już trafiłem na kombinację kernel + catalysty w takich wersjach że przy przełączaniu zasilania lub zmiany podświetlenia był tylko kilkunasto sekundowy lag. Inaczej mówiąc kworker się uspokajał po chwili zamiast zajmować procka w 100% w nieskończoność.
Na brazosie + najnowszych catalystach poważny sam 3 wyciągnął 50 fps na średnich ustawieniach. Takich cudów to windows z kartami włączonymi w dualu nawet nie potrafi :)

a ja właśnie zauważyłem, że środowisko XBMC powoduje to, iż na prockach z serii Core iX rdzenie przestają się skalować. Ustawiają się na maxa mimo, że obciążenie procesora nie przekracza 2-5%. Co ciekawe odpalenie XBMC to +10-15C
