Asus F5SL i brak dźwięku na Ubuntu

Witam
Jestem miłośnikiem Ubuntu i zainstalowałem go sobie na laptopie Asus F5SL...
Więc tak: z żadnej wersji Ubuntu nie mogę wydobyć dźwięku (próbowałem na 7.10 i 8.04) i ubuntu nie wydobywa dźwięku... W ustawieniach audio widzi mi moją kartę dźwiękową (HDA SIS966 i Realteka) skróty klawiszowe działają i pokazuje mi ubuntu że jakby zwiększa głośność ale dalej nic nie słychać...
Za jaką kolwiek pomoc THX

PS: na windowsie XP głos działa...

Miałem taki sam problem z tym laptopem ale to już przeszłość
