Przy instalacji ubuntu 12 LTS zaznaczyłem szyfrowany katalog domowy. Teraz nie chce mi działać public_html. Czy to ma jakieś znaczenie i co robić ??

Zwykle to wystarczało i zawsze działało wszystko.

Nie piesze więcej bo w /var/www wszystko działa ok i po wpisaniu samego http //localhost/ wszystko śmiga.

w którymś errorlogu będzie informacja o tym co się nie powiodło i dlaczego apacz nie ma dostępu do tego katalogu.
ja bym jeszcze sprawdził prawa dostępu katalogu domowego użytkownika - częstym błędem jest nadanie uprawnień typu 750, poczas gdy minimalne to 751. więcej teraz nie powiem bo już nie mam kompa przed nosem a na telefonie ciężko się sprawdza...

tez coś znalazłem zanim założyłem temat o prawach dostępu i nadałem jak pisali 711 z opcją -R (że niby rekurencyjnie) i to mi nic nie pomogło. Natomiast przed założeniem tematu znalazłem coś o szyfrowanym katalogu domowym i że podobno to jest problemem stąd moje pytanie.

może error.log.1 <- to pewnie ten stary bo przed założeniem tematu była reinstalacja

Dzięki temu zobaczymy uprawnienia jakie masz ustawione do tych plików, bo z logu wynika że to w tym leży przyczyna.

bo zrobiłeś - wybacz określenie - największy możliwy idiotyzm, czyli rekurencyjną zmianę uprawnień.
pisałem wyraźnie o katalogu domowym użytkownika, a nie o wszystkim.
teraz musisz przywrócić stan normalny -
czyli przywrócić uprawnienia sprzed wydania owego niewątpliwie odkrywczego polecenia.
katalogi mają mieć rx dla wszystkich, pliki co najmniej r dla wszystkich (x nie powinuen teoretycznie zaszkodzić)

po poleceniu połowa stron www się wysypała grafika lata jak chce po całej stronie np. http://ubuntu.pl a problem dalej nie zniknął

bo teraz to już dokończyłeś dzieła i skopałeś tę resztę, która nie była skopana. naprawdę ciężko pomóc komuś, kto czyta połowę zdania z posta, drugą połowę dopowiada sobie sam na podstawie kamasutry i nostradamusa a potem się dziwi że mu nie wyszło.
masz z czego odtworzyć uprawnienia każdego elementu w katalogu użytkownika? bo tu nie wystarczy jedno proste polecenie.
inaczej powiem: przywaliłeś młotkiem w serwis stołowy, potem potłukłeś ostatnie talerzyki a teraz chcesz kupić magiczną kropelkę która sama wszystko sklei.

ale przecież ma (pierwsza siódemka)!
grupami się na razie nie przejmuj, możesz bezpiecznie założyć że grupa ma takie same prawa jak właściciel z wyjątkiem odczytu.
inaczej: jeśli masz innego użytkownika w tej samej grupie to nie powinien mieć z automatu dostępu do wszystkich twoich danych - ustalasz to indywidualnie dla każdego pliku czy katalogu.
