Czasem nie startuje mi tryb graficzny w Ubuntu 12.10. Jak się przełączę na konsole i zaloguję na roota i wykonam polecenie apt-get update;apt-get upgrade;reboot to zawsze uruchomi się automatycznie, lub po zalogowaniu w powłoce i wydaniu polecenia startx a nastepnie przełączeniu sie na tryb tekstowy kombinacją klawiszy ctrl + alt +f1 do f6 i sudo reboot i działa. Same restarty nic nie dają a polecenie aptitude safe-upgrade aktualizujące kernel nic nie pomogło (myślałem, że to może problem starej wersji jądra)

i przełączenie na konsole tty1 i ctrl + alt + delete i reboot systemu przynosi zamierzony efekt, czyli uruchomienie środowiska Gnome i zalogowanie się.

Zainstalowałem czyli zaktualizowałem jądro do wersji z 3.5 do 3.6 i problem zniknął, wszystko przez sterowniki grafiki.
Oto szybka procedura instalacji kernela 3.6 na Ubuntu 12.10/12.04/11.10 oraz Linux Mint 13/12
uruchamiamy terminal i wpisujemy po kolei:
cd /tmp --> zmieniamy katalog na tmp
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/47950494/upubun ... rnel-3.6.3 -O linux-kernel-3.6.3 --> pobieramy skrypt automatycznej instalacji jądra 3.6.3
chmod +x linux-kernel-3.6.3 --> przyznajemy prawa do wykonania skryptu
sudo sh linux-kernel-3.6.3 --> uruchamiamy proces aktualizacji jadra systemu po wpisaniu hasła zalogowanego użytkownika, skrypt sam wybierze odpowiednią architekturę jądra, wersja 32 bit lub 64 bit w zależności jakie mamy już skompilowane i działające jądro.
Jeśli coś pójdzie nie tak po restarcie komputera to należy wykonać komendę aby powrócić do starej wersji jądra --> sudo apt-get purge linux-image-3.6.3-030603
